Scouts Canada Headquarters, Preston - Restoration

The first Preston Scout Troop was organized in 1929 and would eventually give birth to the famous Preston Scout House Band. The owner of a dilapidated stone building on Queenston Road in Preston was asked to donate this property to the Scouting Association. Donations flowed in to fix this building so that the Scouts could use this not only for meetings but could also act as a drop in centre for young people and the "Teen Canteen" dances on Saturday afforded a wholesome environment for teens of the local area to gather and dance the night away. Crowds of up to 500 were normal. The Foundation was requested to help fund the restoration of the inside walls and this slide shows the age of the building and the insert shows the stone wall restoration.
